Event Description:
Enjoy afternoon coffee and music at one of Oklahoma’s favorite coffee roasters on a Saturday afternoon in beautiful historic downtown Guthrie. Hoboken Coffee Roasters presents music by Joel T. Mosman Saturday June 3rd at 1pm. From http://www.hoboken.coffee : “We got serious about starting a coffee company within the first few months of our marriage. We were married six months after meeting in the fall of ‘07. We sold a car. We used the money to move to Eugene OR and spent a year discovering the coffee culture of the Pacific Northwest. Toward the end of our time in Oregon we sold our other car and bought an espresso machine. We shipped it home, and without a vehicle, we pedaled ourselves twenty two hundred miles back to Oklahoma. It was an adventure to say the least. Back in Guthrie, Oklahoma in the Summer of 2010 we began to work strange jobs so we could spend our free time working on an old garage that would later become our cafe and roastery. Together we worked jobs like: bus driver, certified nurse aid, high school teachers aid, snow-cone stand attendant, lawn care service and the local doughnut shop. We opened Hoboken Coffee Roasters in December 2012 and it’s been worth every second we spent scraping and saving to make it happen! Come see us in Guthrie, one of us is always here, we’d love to tell you more about how blessed we feel to be doing what we love.” From http://www.oklahomauprising.com “Oklahoma Uprising is a roots rock band led by Oklahoma songwriter Joel T. Mosman. Their songs cover themes from comeuppance to community, and other issues by way of allegorical storytelling. Oklahoma Uprising is a musical movement for our Oklahoma. Mosman and Oklahoma Uprising have 10 years performance experience at venues like The Blue Note, The Deli, The Wormy Dog, and festivals like Red Brick Nights, Norman Music Festival and the Paseo Arts Festival. Mosman and his band have supported bands including The Damn Quails, Travis Linville,The Dirty River Boys, Frontier Ruckus, and Carrie Nation and the Speakeasy. During the Summer/Fall of 2017, Mosman and his band will be releasing a series of EPs that represent their catalogue of studio recordings. The first single Armed & Dangerous is a ballad about a family legacy of standing up to injustice. “It was inspired by a story my Mom told me about my grandpa.” Mosman said. “I took a few pieces of the story and just made up the rest.” Armed & Dangerous will be released May 26th, 2017 followed by their EP Bridges & Borderlines on June 24th, Mosman’s solo EP on September 15th, and the second Oklahoma Uprising EP Valley of the Wolves in November.
